Diy Clutch #2

 Step 1:materials:

  • Scissors
  • patterned cotton fabric
  • solid cotton lining
  • sewing machine/ needle and thread
  • ruler
  • highlighter
  • 18 inch zipper
  • faux leather 




 Step 2: Cutting out fabric:
Cut out 2 pieces of each.
Leather: 7x16
patterned cotton: 5.5x15
lining cotton: 11x15

 step 3: Optional
For a more sturdy clutch, i ironed stabilizing interfacing onto the back of the patterned cotton.
 Step 4: sewing
Sew leather and patterned cotton together. you will notice that the leather is slightly bigger than the cotton so make sure both sides are even before sewing. repeat with the other two pieces of cotton and fabric.

Step 5: Sewing (continued)
Now we will sew both sides together. sew along the sides and the bottom of the clutch leaving the top space open.
 Step 6: Sewing lining:
 Next step is to sew the lining. face the two pieces facing each other so that the correct sides are facing one another. sew the two sides and the bottom of the  leaving the top open. leave a opening in the bottom to pull the clutch through.



















Step 7: insert the clutch into in lining through the opening.
















Step 8: Zipper
sew the zipper on either side of the clutch. the zipper should be facing down into the clutch.




 This is your finished product!!!

  1. I really really liked the second and third pieces that you created! I see the progression from the beginning to the end of this class. Those purses looks like something that I would buy from a store. The simplicity and creative thought you put into it was amazing.

  2. I love the pattern of the purse in this. It gives off a very retro feeling and definitely would be something to attract the buyers. However, I still feel that the bag is a bit too simple, like maybe if there was a hidden strap instead.

  3. I love all three of the project. For the first project I like it a lot you can do something if you do not want it to look plain. For the second project I really love the pattern and it makes it look retro. Lastly, the third project, I truly love the fringe on the clutch it makes it look like you really want to buy this product.
